Do not keep silent… For such a time as this…
Reading the words of Mordechai to Esther. A powerful reminder to speak up.
Esther 4:13-14
Esther has been made queen of the Medo-Persian Empire. A plot has been sealed by the king’s edict to kill all the Jews. Esther’s uncle, Mordechai tells her.
Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”
Mordechai reminds Esther that God will deliver His people, but He may have positioned her and it may be that God has placed her there “for such a time as this.”
It is an awesome thought that God has placed us in this time in history with the opportunities that we have, so we can stand up for Him.
Or we can shrink back and God will use someone else.
Why not us? Why not now?
I am reminded of Hebrews 10:39
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
What is in front of you today? What hard thing is God asking of you? How do you have to risk in faith?
May this reminder from Mordechai speak to us today.
“And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”
