God is going to reveal Himself to the Jewish people. He will preserve them and restore them fully to Himself.
Zechariah prophecies about the coming of Jesus.
The telling of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, just before His crucifixion.
Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!
Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
We know this is how Jesus entered Jerusalem before His crucifixion.
He prophecies of a yet future time when the Jews realize they have been rejecting their Messiah and they will weep and grieve.
Zechariah 12:10
I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
They will be broken and repent of how they have rejected Jesus and they will embrace Him as Messiah. They will call on Him.
Zechariah 13:9
They will call on my name
and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ ”
We are living in between these prophecies, and it is amazing to behold. God has opened salvation to all mankind through the death and resurrection of His Son.
He will return and He will reign.
All will recognize the One whom we have pierced and turn to Him.
May we lift Him up today and may all people be drawn to Him.
Father, we eagerly await the fulfillment of all your promises. We believe in your Son and pray that even now people will turn to Him
