Are We Open to Correction? — Proverbs 9:7-9

Are we teachable? Or do we get defensive and lash out at those who are trying to help us?

Proverbs 9:7-9 (NIV84)

8 “Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you;

rebuke a wise man and he will love you.”

9 “Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still;

teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.”

This proverb tells us which we are? If we can’t handle rebuke or instruction. If we lash out or hold a grudge because someone tried to help us see, we may be a fool.

But the wise will love you for bringing it to their attention, they will add to their learning.

Father, help me to be teachable. May I not be foolish or wicked. Help me to be wiser still.
