Sacrifice Should Cost You Something – 1 Chronicles 21:24
We find David had pleaded with God to remove the judgment from Israel because of his sin. God tells David to go build an alter and sacrifice at Araunah’s field.
Araunah was ready to give David the field and the animals to sacrifice as well.
1 Chronicles 21:34 (NIV84) “But King David replied to Araunah, ‘No, I insist on paying the full price. I will not take for the Lord what is yours or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.'”
God honors David’s sacrifice. This is an incredible part of history, a must-read.
In fact, this is the land which the Temple is built on purchased by David.
One of the big takeaways for me is that when God asks us to sacrifice, it should actually cost us.
Father, help me surrender all to you.
