The promise of His presence.
God takes Ezekiel, now in exile for many years, and with the reality of a destroyed Jerusalem and a ruined temple, God takes Ezekiel to all the land promised to Israel. He shows him in precise detail the new temple, the duties of the priest, the prince, the people, and the division of the land.
God gives precise instructions to Ezekiel, and finally, after many chapters of instructions and details about this promise of their return to the land. God gives this instruction to write above the gate of the city.
Ezekiel 48:35
And the name of the city from that time on will be:
the Lord is there.”
What a promise. God will always be there. He will never leave them.
Write it in stone.
I can’t imagine the comfort this must have given Ezekiel and the exiles.
Jesus has promised us that if we come to Him when we surrender our broken lives to Him. He will never leave us or forsake us.
I am thankful as I wait for God to come and make all things new that I have His promise of His presence written on my heart.
