Daniel was crying out in confession of his people’s sins. Ashamed of how Israel and the testimony of God were currently viewed in the world. Acknowledging the just punishment of their sins and recognizing they were deserved and as promised in Deuteronomy.
An angel comes and tells Daniel God has heard his prayer and is revealing to him what is to come.
Part of that revelation is the exact coming of the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed One.
Daniel 9:25
Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’
Amazing, Jesus’ crucifixion is exactly as prophesied.

Amazing! What God was willing to reveal to Daniel.
But why Daniel?
Here are a few reasons:
Daniel 9:3-4
So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.
4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:
Then the angel Gabriel comes and says:
Daniel 9:23
As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message
He was humble. He seeked God. He confessed his sins. He confessed the sins of his people. He desired to restore God’s glory on the earth.
Did you catch this part God highly esteemed him.
Wow! Father, may I humble myself before you. May I confess my sins and those who are with me and may I seek your glory.
Hear my prayer, Oh Lord.
Save the souls of those around me.
