When Leaders Make Real Sacrifices, People Willingly Respond Sacrificially – 1 Chronicles 29:9, 17.
We see this when King David not only opened the nation’s treasury but also his gold and silver to build the temple of God.
1 Chronicles 29:9 (NIV84) “The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.”
David knew all that He had comes from God, so it all belongs to Him. When he gave with a willing heart, so did the people.
1 Chronicles 29:17 (NIV84) “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things have I given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.”
Integrity matters as leaders. Help me yield my life wholly to you, Lord, remembering everything I have comes from you. May I offer all I have and use it for your glory. May we rejoice together as we see you use what you have given us, building your kingdom together.
