I have always loved when Simeon, who had waited years for Christ to come, sees the baby Jesus. It is an extraordinary moment.

But it got me to wonder when does God’s Spirit move? When does He most often speak?

Look at Luke 2:25-27

Luke 2:25-27

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. Everyone in this text is doing what God desires of them. Simeon is righteous and devout, waiting for God. Mary and Joseph what the law required.

This might seem innocuous, but to me, it stood out, and we see Simeon, moved by the Spirit of God, go and meet Jesus in the temple.

Luke 2:28

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God,

In the midst of the fulfilled prophesy, and the great revealing of Jesus being the Messiah are the obedient people who trusted God and were moved by His Spirit.

It encourages me to be faithful in obedience to Christ. Waiting in anticipation for His Spirit to show us what is next for us to do to glorify God with our lives.
