Pray This For Me – Colossians 1:1-14

Paul is writing to the church in Colossae, and he is so delighted that their faith in Jesus and their love for one another is known around the world.

Colossians 1:3 (CSB)

“We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.”

Paul is so thankful for their faith and love for each other, but look at Paul’s continual prayer for them.

Colossians 1:9-12 (CSB)

“We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, 10 so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy 12 giving thanks to the Father…”

All I could think as I was reading this prayer, is please pray this for me! Filled with the knowledge of His will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Yes, please may I have the knowledge of what God desires for and from me and the wisdom and spiritual understanding to do and implement the things He has called me to.

May I walk worthy of the Lord and fully please Him. Father, please bear fruit through my life in every good work and grow me in the knowledge of You.

Who doesn’t want to be strengthened with all power, I mean the immeasurable power of God’s glorious might? Nothing could be stronger or more powerful than our omnipotent Heavenly Father. Look how Paul aims this power for endurance and patience that we may with joy give thanks to the Father.

Yes, it certainly requires complete dependance on Him to endure with patience and joy. To give thanks when things are hard and the enemy presses in.

Please pray this for me, continually. No wonder the gospel was “bearing fruit and growing all over the world,”

God was answering Paul’s prayers not only for the church in Colossae but for the believers all over the world.

Take some time even now to pray, pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Think of those who are bringing the good news to those around them. Pray that they too may be filled with knowledge, wisdom, power, and strength. That they may walk worthy and please our great King. That we as believers may have this incredible power that comes from our Creator God that gives us endurance, patience and great joy. And may we too bear fruit in our lives and all over the world. To Him be glory in the church through all generations. Amen
