Does it seem impossible right now? Do evil people have the power, and are you left to simply survive?
God will make all things right. He holds the future.
The people in Jeremiah’s day had just endured incredible violence and drama, many killed, many taken, and few left in the land.
For six chapters, Jeremiah prophecies against many nations and their upcoming judgements.
But then He spends three chapters on the judgement of Babylon.
Jeremiah 50:46
46 At the sound of Babylon’s capture, the earth will tremble;
its cry will resound among the nations.
To those in that time, it had to seem impossible to imagine. This great and powerful nation was overthrown.
Jeremiah 51:11
“Sharpen the arrows,
take up the shields!
The Lord has stirred up the kings of the Medes,
because his purpose is to destroy Babylon.
The Lord will take vengeance,
vengeance for his temple.
This is written 70 years before the Medes came and took over Babylon.
God knew and Jeremiah prophesied who would bring the judgement to Babylon. Wow!
Jeremiah 51:56
For the Lord is a God of retribution;
he will repay in full.
In our situation, in our moment of time, we can be overwhelmed by the injustice around us and even towards us.
God has not missed a moment of it, and He will make it right.
We have a just God, a God of justice.
