The prophet Isaiah is waiting in a time when for all of the existence of Israel, Egypt and Assyria have not only been the enemies of Israel but have worshipped other gods.

In fact Isaiah has just finished prophesying how Assyria is going to come and do great damage to all nations, yet hear this from Isaiah:

Isaiah 19:23–25 (NIV84):

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

Wow! “Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

God will make all things new.

There will be a day when all things and all people will be restored.

We can be in the middle of conflict or an upside-down world. Imagine this is written just before great destruction to Israel, but God lets His people know that it is not the end.

Dear friend, no matter our personal situation or our national situation, this is not the end.

One day, God will make all things new, and He will bring peace, for He is the Prince of Peace.

Though we must trust Him for today, our hope is in Him and what He has promised.
