Jesus responds to the duplicity that He is seeing. People are saying one thing and doing another.

Jesus points this out:

Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

We call Jesus Lord, but what do we really believe about Him? Lord means master. The one who has the authority over my life. Yet, do we listen and then obey His words?

Jesus goes on to say:

Luke 6:47 I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.

He uses the word picture of building of someone building a house. The person who digs deep and anchors that house on a solid rock foundation will weather the storms that come,

Luke 6:49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Jesus, you are the Master builder of life, You created all things and You know what is best. Help us not only to listen, but also to do the things You tell us to do. Knowing our lives are in your hands.
