Humility, repentance, and confession. — 2 Chronicles 7:14
This is the way.
When we get humble and own our sin, God is fully with us.
This is about living in reality, in truth.
But we seem to want to hide our sin, minimize our wrong, blame others for our misdeeds, and complain to God.
Solomon has built and now dedicated the temple of God. God is pleased, and God comes to Solomon and tells him:
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV84): if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
And we find throughout the scriptures, but specifically throughout the book of 2 Chronicles, people sinning against God, God bringing consequences, and once and while, finally one of them will get humble and own their sin and yield before God. And every time God hears and restores.
This crescendos in the story of Manasseh, who sins more than any king for over 40 years and is taken captive, gets humble, and is restored.
Humility, repentance, and confession.
Surrender is victory because God is good.
Why do we cover our sin? Why do we not own our wrong? Why are we not humble before our holy God?
Our pride keeps us from all the good God has for us.
